San Diego Teachers Provide In-Person Learning for Migrants but Not Americans

I’m not going to lie. I thank God nearly every single day that I was born, raised, and currently live in a conservative-led state. I am grateful that my children are being raised in a county that appreciates them and sees to their needs.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many Americans and many children.

In particular, are those in liberal California.

Here, thanks to the novel coronavirus and the control it has given Democratic leaders, children have not seen the inside of a classroom, locker, or physical textbook in over a year. Instead, they have been relegated to sitting at home with a screen in their face, away from friends, away from teachers, away from the social life they need to exist as normal and productive human beings.

For far too many, school was the only place where they received healthy meals, the only place where they could escape the abuse at home or the only place where they were treated with respect.

And as a result, thousands have begun to slip into unhealthy habits, whether thoughts of suicide, depression, participating in illegal behaviors, or hanging out with the wrong crowd in the streets.

Yet, none of this seems to matter to teachers and the unions that back.

What does matter? Well, illegal migrant children, of course.

And no, I’m not kidding.

On Saturday, it was reported that, due to the increasing influx of unaccompanied children entering our southern border, a convention center in San Diego would be converted into an overflow facility for some 1,450 underage migrant girls ages 13 and 17.

While they are under the Department of Health and Human Services care, the girls will be given three healthy meals a day (plus snacks), a cell phone, showers, a bed, as well as “(p)ing-pong tables and soccer balls, among other recreational items.”

In addition, the girls will also be given daily school lessons, to be given in-person and by San Diego teachers.

According to KGTV-TV, “Schooling will be provided by the San Diego County Office of Education.”

While it is noted that the teachers will be giving education to migrant children voluntarily, keep in mind, this is the same organization, the same union, and the same teachers who are refusing to teach American children.

Per the chairman of the county’s Board of Supervisors, Nathan Fletcher, “Getting our kids back in the classroom is one of our highest priorities and I want to commend San Diego Unified and the San Diego Education Association for reaching this agreement.”

This comment was made during a recent announcement that in-person learning for American San Diego children might be able to resume, at least on a part-time level, as early as April 12. Of course, that is as long as things go according to plan. This means all teachers need to receive both doses of the vaccine, and the county’s most-restrictive purple tier is lowered, according to The Union-Tribune.

But teachers don’t need to be vaccinated, students don’t need to be tested, and masks are not even worn for children who have recently and illegally crossed our southern border.

As Jim Desmond of the San Diego Country Board of Supervisors points out, “it’s great” that these migrant children are getting their needs met and getting an in-person education. However, he wishes that “every child in San Diego was allowed the same opportunity.”

And he’s right. I wouldn’t wish ill of any child, whether here illegally or not. But since when does the American government put the lives, education, needs of foreigners above that of their own?

I can’t think of a single nation anywhere in the world, no matter their form of government, economy, or success, who would ever agree to abandon their own in favor of those who are not supposed to be here in the first place.

It just doesn’t make sense. If you want to be a strong, powerful, and proud nation, you have to put your country first. You don’t ignore them and give all your attention to building up another nationality.

But apparently, Biden, nor his vice president, doesn’t understand that.
