AOC has claimed that she’s a ‘Planned Parenthood baby’ as if we’re suddenly supposed to care. Her claim also shows that she’s completely out of touch with why conservatives are against Planned Parenthood.
According to their website, Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit that offers “sexual health care.”
Essentially, this means that they’ll help women with the various decisions pertaining to birth control and childbirth. They can offer birth control methods, emergency contraception (the morning-after pill), and prenatal vitamins for those who are already pregnant. For those who don’t have healthcare, this can provide a significant amount of support.
However, Planned Parenthood also provides abortion services. Some local offices don’t provide abortions but they will provide abortion referrals. They teach that it’s okay to abort an unwanted baby instead of carrying the baby to term and putting him/her up for adoption.
If this were an ordinary nonprofit, they could do whatever they wanted to without conservatives having a problem.
Planned Parenthood isn’t an ordinary nonprofit, though. They’ve been receiving federal funding since 1970. This means that taxpayer dollars are going toward helping women receive abortions.
Republicans have a pro-life agenda. They believe in the sanctity of life.
During a subcommittee hearing, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) attempted to lambast Republicans in a longwinded comment. She wants to talk about the lives that have been saved by Planned Parenthood. She wants to talk about the prenatal care provided by Planned Parenthood. Then, she says that “and if you’ve never met a Planned Parenthood baby, I’m happy to let you know that I am one.”
So? Who cares?
The issue is not that Planned Parenthood is saving lives. It’s that, in the same breath, they’re taking lives.
If Planned Parenthood did away with their abortions, abortion services, and abortion referrals, no one would have a problem with the nonprofit receiving federal funding.
As if to pick at the wound further, AOC goes on to point the finger at Republicans for daring to be pro-life. This is when she digs her hole a bit deeper.
“First and foremost, I don’t want to hear a single person on this committee or outside of this committee talk about valuing life when they continue to uphold the death penalty…”
One issue has nothing to do with another.
Abortion is the killing of innocent babies because their parents didn’t think contraception methods through.
The death penalty is a punishment for someone who has committed such a heinous crime that the only acceptable form of justice is for them to pay for those crimes with their life.
People choose to commit crimes. Babies don’t choose to be born.
This is supported throughout AOC’s tirade during the subcommittee meeting, though she doesn’t even realize it. She says that Republicans “support policies that disproportionately incarcerate and lead to the deaths of black men and people throughout this country.”
Again, if people were to just follow the laws in the country, there would be no reason for incarceration – and people (of every color) wouldn’t have to die.
Why should taxpayers, many of whom are Christians who believe that abortion is a sin, be forced to fund a nonprofit that offers abortion services?
The issue that the conservatives are fighting for is beyond a pro-life agenda. It is fighting to prevent federal funding from going to a nonprofit that continues to kill innocent babies on an annual basis – estimated at hundreds of thousands.
And it doesn’t matter whether AOC is a Planned Parenthood baby or not. She received a very different service than what many Planned Parenthood offices offer. Her mother received prenatal care.
Call a Planned Parenthood office somewhere in the country. Many will state that they do not offer prenatal care and that they only offer abortions.
The reality is that free prenatal care is offered by many nonprofit organizations. If the federal government is going to offer such services, let’s at least find one that doesn’t also kill unborn babies.
