House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has made no secret of her disdain for former President Donald Trump. She has held him in the lowest possible regard from day one. Her frustration with the billionaire turned politician seems to have gotten even deeper of late, and it might have caused a bit of a flub, one that’s likely to come back to haunt her very soon.
Pelosi, once again criticizing President Donald Trump, went after the former president after he defended the demonstrators who were caught up in the riot on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6 of 2021. Trump’s comments were met with aggressive duration by Pelosi who called him a “twice-impeached Florida retiree,” according to a report in the Independent Journal Review.
When talking about the historic election certification day demonstrations Trump said, “It was an unfortunate event. I say, though, however, people are being treated unbelievably unfairly,” Trump said, adding, “There were no guns in the Capitol, except for the gun that shot Ashli Babbit. … There was no reason for that.”
His comments didn’t sit well with Pelosi who responded saying that the “Twice-impeached Florida retiree – and de facto leader of the Republican Party – Donald Trump joined House Republicans today in disrespecting the Capitol Police and other law enforcement officers, who valiantly defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, decrying how rioters ‘are being treated unbelievably unfairly’ now that they are facing legal consequences for their actions.”
Pelosi’s comments are curious for several reasons, the first of which is that Trump wasn’t really impeached, despite a vote to push the articles of impeachment through.
This was addressed by Laura Ingram who called it “America’s first fake impeachment,” one day after 230 House members voted yea to Article I of impeachment, and 229 voted yea on Article II, which accused him of obstructing justice.
“Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff were right about one thing. Yesterday was historic. But not for the reason they claim. It’s historic because it was the first time the impeachment process has been used for purely partisan reasons,” Ingraham said at the time.
“One could make a fairly decent argument that the president wasn’t really even impeached,” she added, before laying out her theory, based on an op-ed by Noah Feldman in Bloomberg.
“Now, why am I saying that?” Feldman said. “Because Nancy and the gang ran out of town without even naming impeachment managers, and without even sending the articles to the Senate! Do you know who else is saying this? The Democrats’ own lawyer, NoahFeldman, one of their impeachment witnesses wrote today, ‘If the House does not communicate its impeachment to the Senate, it actually hasn’t impeached the president. If the articles are not transmitted, Trump could legitimately say that he wasn’t truly impeached at all.’”
The host concluded that the whole process was a “pretend impeachment,” saying of the entire proceedings that it was “all fake.”
“This is why the impeachment theater didn’t rate well even with the resistance watchers, both the acting and the script were lame. Fox has been Dominating the ratings since this sad saga began. Not trying to brag, but we have. The House impeached itself yesterday by perpetrating a fraud on the American people.”
Was it a technicality? Probably. But to be clear, technicalities are what Democrats live for, including the technicalities surrounding the riots that took place on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6 where facial recognition and first-hand reports indicated that those iconically associated with leftist riots, including some who were previously arrested for being part of progressive extremist riots, were responsible for the violence in January of this year.
And last but not least, of course, is the insinuation that the president is somehow too old to be weighing in with her “retiree” crack. As anyone who has seen Pelosi lately is aware, the cracks Pelosi should be worrying about are the ones on her face, because if that woman doesn’t croak with a gavel in her hand, it’ll only be because Republicans finally got fed up enough with her that they moved very very quickly.
