CNN News, firmly rooted in the leftist agenda, gave a platform to their medical contributor, Dr. Leana Wen, who was the former head of Planned Parenthood. On a recent broadcast, she argued that life needs to be made difficult for those who are not vaccinated against COVID-19. She even suggested they should be barred from public events and forced into twice-weekly testing for the virus.
“It needs to be hard for people to remain unvaccinated,” Wen urged on a recent broadcast. “Right now, it’s kind of the opposite.”
The CNN medical contributor complained that unvaccinated Americans are still allowed freedom.
Wen challenged, “But at some point these mandates, by workplaces, by schools, I think it will be important to say, ‘Hey, you can opt-out, but if you want to opt-out, you have to sign these forms, you have to get twice-weekly testing,’” the CNN contributor also added, “Basically, we need to make getting vaccinated the easy choice.”
This is not a new refrain from Dr. Wen, back in April she was on CNN saying that Americans’ freedom should be tied to their COVID-19 vaccination status.
The Daily Wire gave this report on Wen’s stance regarding vaccinations: “My main concern is that we’re not going to reach herd immunity because of vaccine hesitancy. And I know that’s hard for a lot of people to believe, who desperately want the vaccine right now. And they’re thinking, ‘Oh, well, it’s just a small percentage of people who are actually anti-vaxxers.’ And that’s true.”
She went on to describe that she is not focused on the “anti-science, anti-vaxxer contingent.” Wen believes that there are possibly millions of people who simply have concerns about the vaccine and they just are not aware of “what’s in it for them.” The doctor said that “We need to make it clear to them that the vaccine is the ticket back to pre-pandemic life. And the window to do that is really narrowing. I mean, you were mentioning, Chris, about how all these states are reopening. They are reopening at 100 percent.”
Dr. Wen pleaded that we have a very narrow window in which to tie our reopening policy to people’s vaccination status. “Because otherwise, if everything is reopened, then what’s the carrot going to be? How are we going to incentivize people to actually get the vaccine?”
Wen stated that the CDC and the Biden administration should come out with even more intensity and say, “If you’re vaccinated, you can do all these things. Here are all these freedoms that you have.”
The doctor said that if we don’t do this, people are going to go out and enjoy these freedoms anyway. And she fears a situation of coming into the fall, where we never reach herd immunity. She warned, “Then we get hit by the next surge of COVID-19 in the fall, something that we could have prevented if we just got people vaccinated now.”
Wen argued that the White House Independence Day event would have been a perfect opportunity to share that message.
“The celebration could have been a chance to show that vaccination isn’t just an individual decision, but one that affects the health of others — including those already vaccinated,” Wen wrote.
Dr. Wen is not alone at CNN, her platform was echoed by the news agency’s medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner. He also suggested Friday it was time to mandate vaccines.
“I do think it’s time to start mandating vaccines,” Reiner told Erin Burnett. “And I think that private industry and private organizations will do that.”
