President Biden decided that as a “mark of respect,” that the U.S. service members that were killed in Kabul, Afghanistan on August 26th would be honored by the flag being flown at half-staff until sunset on August 30.
He’s got some nerve.
The entire reason that those service members were killed was because of how poorly he handled Afghanistan. He made the assumption that terrorists would keep their word. Instead, people died.
The 13 members of the U.S. military and the 160+ men, women, and children of Afghanistan who were killed by the twin suicide bombers deserve better. It’s too late to save their lives. At the very least, we can make sure that they get what they would really want – to see Old Glory flying high.
Biden doesn’t get to make a catastrophic decision and, then, fly the flag at half-staff as if he’s so sorry that it happened. He should be sorry – after all, it was his fault that the deaths occurred in the first place.
Many people were horrified that Biden even ordered the flags to be flown at half-staff. And, one courthouse in Texas has decided to defy the orders entirely.
Former Texas Governor Rick Perry quickly announced that the courthouse in Fayette County, Texas would be defying the president’s order. Perry explained why by reminding people that the judge in Fayette County, Joe Weber, was once a General in the Marine Corps. “He knows the best way to honor the Marines and Navy Corpsman who were killed yesterday in Kabul is to recognize their selfless service and sacrifice by flying Old Glory high and proud.”
If we fly the flag at half-staff, we recognize that the U.S. failed and that those killed gave their lives for nothing. All of the service members were under the age of 30. They had their entire lives to live – and yet they ended up giving the ultimate sacrifice to the country.
Perry explained that we as a nation have “dipped our colors and bent the knee to terrorists” under the Biden administration. There is no need to fly the flag low as a way to giving yet another feather in the cap of the terrorists.

The service members would have wanted Old Glory to fly high. So would the families.
So, at least in Fayette County, Texas, they are choosing to keep the flag at full staff as a way to properly honor the lives that were lost.
Many in the military have identified on social media that they would rather see the flag at full staff than it be lowered – all because the Biden administration failed.
President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden made a big ordeal of leaving to go to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to officially receive the bodies of the thirteen fallen heroes. Even then, the flags were flying at half-staff – and it was a true shame because those heroes deserved more.
And for anyone who saw President Biden during the dignified transfer, he must have checked his phone several times. So, he couldn’t honor the heroes with his military orders, with the way in which the flag flew, or by simply keeping his phone in his pocket for a few minutes.
Biden should be ashamed of himself – most Americans certainly are. At least one Texas courthouse has the strength to stand up and give the service members what they truly deserve.
