Pelosi Shuts the House Down Instead of Allowing Killed Soldiers’ Names to Be Read Aloud

It’s hard to hear the truth out loud. It’s hard to hear that your party failed so epically in Afghanistan. It’s particularly hard to know that your administration was directly responsible for the death of 13 servicemembers.

Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to own up to the truth. She most certainly doesn’t want to hear about it, especially not on the House floor where she is queen.

This past Tuesday, the House Speaker did the most disrespectful thing she may have ever done within her multi-decade political career. She chose not to honor the fallen.

Rather than allowing a Representative to publicly read the names of the 13 military members who gave their lives in Afghanistan, she shut the entire House down.

Representative Brian Mast, a Republican out of Florida, caught up to the Floridian to explain that Pelosi ignored the request of the Republicans to read the names.

“We gaveled in, had a prayer, said the Pledge of Allegiance, took a moment of silence with pretty much all Republican veterans, then asked to be recognized to read names and bring up Afghanistan legislation.” Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats didn’t even acknowledge the Republicans. Instead, they closed the House down.

This is a bit childish. It seems it’s one step away from Pelosi putting her fingers in her ears and singing “La, la, la, I can’t hear you.”

It can be difficult to accept that something did not go as planned. However, what happened in Afghanistan requires a conversation – and the military members who were killed by the suicide bombers deserve the highest level of respect and honor.

Each and every Republican in the House was shocked by the level of disrespect that was shown. No one was even asking for Pelosi to publicly admit that Biden handled the entire ordeal poorly. The only thing that was being asked was that the names of the 13 be read aloud.

Representative Carlos Gimenez, another Republican out of Florida was quick to tweet “How badly do Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats want to cover up this Afghanistan debacle?” He followed it up by saying how they were quick to block members of Congress from reading out the names.

Our military most certainly deserves better.

While Pelosi and the House Democrats may have the majority, the House Republicans are still members of Congress. They, too, have rights – including honoring the military at the level that they deserve.

Representative Greg Steube, yet another Republican out of Florida (notice a trend, yet?) tweeted that it’s “how far our nation has fallen.”

Really, that’s all you need to know about the House Democrats. They don’t care about the military. They don’t care about how they treat their fellow Congressmembers. They simply care about their reputation.

Hearing the names of the fallen 13 would mean that they would have to face the truth. And, that truth is that they support an administration that made an epic disaster out of the withdrawal out of Afghanistan.

Don’t expect the hostilities by the Democrats to subside anytime soon. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy attempted a House vote that would require the Biden administration to recover both Americans and military gear, the Democrats blocked the vote.

It has become clear that the Democrats don’t care about Americans at all. As McCarthy tweeted, “Democrats just blocked a vote to require a plan from President Biden to bring Americans home and to account for all the military equipment he left behind.”
