TSA Allow Migrants To Use Arrest Warrants To Fly When They Cannot Get Normal Forms of ID

Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) sent a letter to the Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) back on December 15, 2021, to demand answers to the problem of illegal immigrants flying without proper identification. This serious problem needed to be addressed and addressed quickly. In response, TSA Administrator David Pekoske admitted Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documents were being accepted.

Things like “Warrant for Arrest of Alien” and a “Warrant of Removal/Deportation” were being used to allow them to travel. Let that sink in. People who have active warrants to be detained/arrested or REMOVED from this country are still being allowed to travel about as if it’s no problem for them to be out at all.

How serious are the immigration laws if this is allowed to occur? Even worse is how the TSA and DHS can both allow this. As Rep. Gooden said “TSA’s response confirms the Biden Administration is knowingly putting our national security at risk. Unknown and unvetted immigrants shouldn’t even be in the country, much less flying without proper identification.” This is a gigantic problem for this country if we are allowing this to happen.

Law-abiding citizens who get caught up in a simple mistake like forgetting an ID are oftentimes not allowed to fly. People who refuse to take part in the wearing of face masks are prohibited from flying the friendly skies. Yet illegal immigrants are being waived right through. We have no clue about them and are giving them more civil liberties than our citizens. This is despite our laws that say this should not be happening.

DHS Administrator David Pekoske claims “TSA is committed to ensuring that all travelers, regardless of immigration status, are pre-screened before they arrive at the airport, have their pre-screening status and identification verified at security checkpoints, and receive appropriate screening based on risk before entering the sterile area of the airport.” While this may be policy, we have all seen how poorly DHS and TSA perform their jobs. We see what a waste these agencies are at our airports, so how do we trust this information?

Ultimately, this all comes down to trust. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good way to confirm these documents link up with the people presenting them. There is nothing to prevent them from handing them to someone else to perform a task for them. Given how ‘safe’ these agencies are supposed to make us, a report like this completely contradicts their entire reason for existence.

Anyone who has ever worked in the government knows how often their servers are backlogged, frozen, down for service, or missing information. Given how short the timetable is for people to make flights, it is unreasonable to expect them to be able to vet this paperwork promptly to get people through and on the plane. At least while doing their job adequately.

Congressman Gooden is fighting the good fight to keep America safe and by tackling this issue he is bringing a large issue to light that many did not know existed, and others dismiss as no big deal. Since 9/11, people have trusted the TSA and DHS to ensure that we don’t have terrorists on the planes. This policy change certainly undercuts that idea and makes American air travel that much more suspicious.

It also raises a point of how good these warrants are. Why are they being given warrants and being allowed to stay here instead of being sent back home or detained? Isn’t the idea to get illegal immigrants out of the country once caught? America under Biden is a scary place in 2022, and we are just getting started.
