Beto O’Rourke Finally Weighs in on Abortion

Juli Hansen /

Beto O’Rourke already won the Democratic primaries for the gubernatorial race in Texas. Now, he’ll face off against incumbent GOP governor Greg Abbott on November 8.

One of the hot topics in the nation right now is abortion and whether it should be allowed or not. Abbott was famous to sign the “Heartbeat Ban” which prevents abortions from taking place once a baby’s heartbeat is heard.

With O’Rourke identifying himself as a liberal American, it’s only fair to know where he stands on the issue. And he recently joined up with “The View” so that he could share his thoughts on this hot topic.

Alyssa Farah Griffin was the guest co-host. She was quick to cite the House bill currently being pushed by Democrats that would codify Roe v. Wade to ensure that women have the ability to obtain an abortion up to the point of fetal viability.

“Fetal viability” is a hot topic because it is the point at which a fetus is viable on the outside. For most, that is 24 weeks of gestation, but some argue that abortion could happen even later.

Griffin was interested to know whether O’Rourke would support further restrictions on whether women could choose abortion – even into the third trimester.

This is when O’Rourke goes on to explain that the bill that Griffin is referencing is “theoretical” because it is unlikely to pass because there’s no pro-choice filibuster-proof majority present in the Senate.

He talks about what isn’t theoretical is the ban that is present in Texas right now. He believes this ban will prevent women from making decisions about their bodies from the moment of conception, which, of course, couldn’t be further from the truth.

Whoopi Goldberg pipes in to talk about whether it’s an issue of “ownership” and how Texas wants to own women and their right to make decisions. The absurdity continues for a few moments before Griffin decides to focus on abortion once again.

She presses further to ask the question bluntly to O’Rourke: “Do you believe in any limitations on abortion, whether it’s the third trimester or up even until the final months, 9 months?”

This is when every woman should be scooting to the edge of their seat to hear what his response is. And he knows that his answer is either going to gain him applause or disgust.

He doesn’t even pause before he runs right into reminding people that Roe v. Wade is still the law of the land. Then, he answers in a slightly vague way that we’ll dissect in just a moment. “We should all trust women to make their own decisions that are in their best interest for themselves and their healthcare and for their future.”

Take a moment to really digest what he’s saying.

We need to trust that women will make their own decisions. Essentially, if a woman feels that it’s in her best interest to abort at the nine-month mark, when a baby is viable in the outside world, he would be supportive. As long as it’s in the woman’s best interest, she can commit murder.

Forget about the fact that this is a living being if allowed to come into the world. O’Rourke will simply give the rights to the woman and strip the baby of every right.

Not all women make the best decisions. We’ve seen that on countless occasions. And men, too. But men aren’t the ones carrying babies (despite what liberals say).

This isn’t about whether a woman can make decisions about her own body. It’s not just her body once there’s a viable baby inside of it.

And if the government is so concerned about the “My body, my choice,” why do they care so much about forcing us to get COVID vaccines? That’s a whole other issue.

Right now, the only way that O’Rourke is getting applause is by going on The View, where there are countless liberals watching.

If he wants to win the state of Texas, he has to realize that life means more.
