The entertainment industry would love for you to think that Hollywood is the end-all, be-all. But as actress Emily Blunt explains, that is far from the truth and precisely why she just made a rather big decision about her acting career.

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch, calm down. Blunt is not quitting acting or Hollywood.

However, she is going to be taking some time off.

News of the decision was made known during a recent appearance by the “Oppenheimer” star for the “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi” podcast.

Bozzi basically asked her how she managed to balance her work/home life – being a mother, staying in “the top form that you’re in,” and being a professional person – noting that it takes a toll.

Blunt admitted that it indeed does take a toll, usually in the form of guilt. It’s something she says she hasn’t exactly figured out yet – that she still isn’t “doing it right.” But it’s also a major reason she isn’t working this year.

The reason for that is all about her kids.

She told Bozzi, “I just need to be – I worked quite a bit last year, and my oldest baby is 9. We’re in the last year of single digits, and I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little.”

She continued, “I just need to be there for all of them, for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”

Blunt also admitted that she has loved her work and the projects she has worked on so far. She also has no intention of leaving it behind for good any time soon. After all, she’s only 40 and in her prime.

However, she’s come to realize that her kids and her family are more important. And so she will put her own work and “ambition” to the side for a while.

I don’t blame her one bit.
