President Donald Trump isn’t holding back. In a Sunday night post on Truth Social, he torched Democrat Senator Adam Schiff over growing allegations of mortgage fraud, calling it “an American Tragedy” and insisting Schiff “should pay the price of prison.”

The firestorm erupted after a criminal referral was sent by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to the Justice Department in May, flagging what it called a “sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation” by Schiff over a Maryland home he financed through Fannie Mae. While the FHFA memo stopped short of explicitly confirming fraud, Trump drew his own conclusions—and made them loud and clear.

“Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE! He falsified Loan Documents,” Trump wrote, reminding Americans that this is the same man who led the charge during the Russia collusion hoax and Trump’s first impeachment.

“It was an American Tragedy!” Trump added. “Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime, not one made up by the corrupt accusers!”

The allegations are serious. Schiff allegedly listed both a California and Maryland home as his “primary residence” across several years—potentially securing favorable loan terms on both. RedState and other outlets have highlighted how this move, if proven deliberate, could amount to fraud and would also undercut Schiff’s eligibility for elected office in California during the years in question.

The controversy reignited when an older video surfaced showing Schiff claiming he’s never had a primary residence outside of California—a direct contradiction to the mortgage records now under scrutiny. That footage, which Trump allies have called a “smoking gun,” is now circulating widely in conservative media circles.

For Trump, this isn’t just about a paperwork issue—it’s about exposing the double standard. Schiff famously demanded in 2019 that Trump Jr. face prison time over allegedly false statements, despite there being no proof of perjury. Now, Trump says, the tables have turned.

“He tried to send my son to prison for nothing,” Trump wrote. “Now look who’s the one with real legal trouble.”

Schiff has denied the accusations, brushing them off as a political smear. “Since I led his first impeachment, Trump has repeatedly called for me to be arrested for treason,” Schiff wrote on X. “So in a way, I guess this is a bit of a letdown. And this baseless attempt at political retribution won’t stop me from holding him accountable.”

But the questions aren’t going away. Reports indicate the DOJ has yet to comment on whether it will formally investigate or prosecute. Meanwhile, conservative lawmakers and media figures are turning up the heat, accusing Schiff of skirting the law while spending years trying to destroy political opponents.

For Trump supporters, the irony is too rich to ignore: the man who launched a years-long crusade against Trump over manufactured narratives now finds himself at the center of a real-life scandal involving his own credibility and truthfulness.

Whether Schiff ultimately faces legal consequences is uncertain, but one thing’s for sure—Trump isn’t letting it go. “No more hoaxes. No more fake investigations,” he wrote. “It’s time to hold the real criminals accountable.”
