Elon Musk is not backing down after President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law on July 4th. Days earlier, Musk threatened to launch a third party if the bill passed, and now he’s moving ahead with that plan.

Calling it the “America Party,” Musk held a poll on Friday asking if people wanted independence from what he described as the “two-party (some would say uniparty) system.” The poll received nearly 1.25 million votes, with 65.4 percent supporting the idea.

Musk posted that Independence Day was the perfect time to ask if Americans want real independence, not just from government overreach but from the politicians protecting their own power. He followed up by outlining how the America Party could strategically contest select Senate and House seats, pointing out the “razor-thin legislative margins” that could allow a third party to influence policy without needing to win the White House immediately.

Last month, Musk ran a similar poll that drew over 5.6 million votes, with 80.4 percent favoring a third-party alternative. That overwhelming support shows Americans are hungry for a new option and tired of the same excuses from entrenched elites.

Musk continued posting and reposting on Friday and Saturday, addressing his concerns about the “one-party system” and the recent bill, which many conservatives see as another example of Washington ignoring the people. His posts also featured others who support the America Party idea while acknowledging the hurdles in taking on the two-party stronghold.

The idea of a third party under Musk’s leadership quickly trended on X, with “America Party” and “Ross Perot” climbing the ranks. Perot ran as an independent in 1992 and still won 19 percent of the vote, proving that a third-party run can influence the political conversation, even if it does not take the presidency.

There were rumors circulating about former Vice President Mike Pence joining Musk’s efforts, but no credible evidence has surfaced. Still, the interest shows people are paying attention, and Musk’s effort is striking a nerve in a country that is tired of politicians failing to secure the border, protect freedoms, and balance the budget.

Musk’s push for the America Party isn’t just a vanity project. It’s a warning to Republicans and Democrats that their grip on power isn’t guaranteed. Conservatives who believe in smaller government, free speech, and protecting American sovereignty should pay attention to how this third-party effort develops.

Elon Musk is using his platform to challenge the system, and with millions already voicing support, this could become more than just another headline. It could be the start of a movement to hold Washington accountable and give Americans a real choice.
