On January 3rd, Nevada Judge Mary Kay Holthus had a horrific kind of day. Presiding over the sentencing for Delone Redden, he had already pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm. Before reading his sentence, Holthus had rejected his request for probation thanks to his lengthy criminal history as the defendant screamed at her.

“I appreciated that, but I think it’s time that he get a taste of something else because I just can’t with that history. In accordance with the laws in the state of Nevada…” Redden suddenly launched himself over the bench and at the judge who had attempted to move away. Catching her, he was able to slam her to the ground and land a few blows before her security pulled him off.

Thanks to the Biden-like reflexes of her security and other bystanders, she only suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, the deputy who initially responded was also transported to the hospital, but his condition and injuries were unknown.

In a statement, the district court told KNTV, “We commend the heroic acts of her staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant. The court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. We are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public, and our employees.”

With no word on what Holthus was sentencing him to, Redden will now be adding multiple charges to this, and hopefully, the Clark County DA’s office will ensure this man doesn’t see the light of day for a very, very long time. After his actions, he has ensured that he does not deserve it.
